Allison Smith is a retired United States Army Command Sergeant Major. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia and graduated High School in Portsmouth, Virginia. She is the youngest of ten children. She has been married to her husband, Jon, for over 26 years. She has two sons (Darryck and Jon) and two daughters (Sharron and Tawanda).
Allison began her military career in 1984 and retired in 2011. Her first military assignment was to South Korea and her career culminated with a combat tour to Afghanistan. She has served in every enlisted leadership position in the United States Army from squad leader to the highest enlisted rank, Command Sergeant Major.
She received her undergraduate degree in Management from University of Maryland University College, her graduate degree in Public Administration from Troy State University, and her Post-graduate degree from Liberty University where she was conferred as an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership and Administration. Allison also completed a Certificate of Achievement in Strategic and Organizational Leadership from Villanova University.
She is also a certified ISSA fitness trainer. In addition, she served as a Drill Instructor and Senior Leader in the United States Army for over 20 years, specializing in group physical fitness, leadership, team building, and life coaching (counseling). In 1997, Ebony Magazine featured her as one of the ten inspiring Black women in its article “The Many Splendor Faces of Today’s Black Women.” She currently serves as a lay minister and a youth group leader. She has also served as one of the chapel’s women’s ministry leaders.
She is gifted and anointed in inspiring and motivating people to be the best that they can be. Her first love is Jesus Christ and her family. Allison’s desire is to be used as a vessel for Christ and deliver the message of His love and restoration power throughout the United States and Military Installations. She also desires to one day open a Leadership Academy for girls.
